Every year Coca-Cola releases a set of glasses for a promotional sale at McDonalds, which is its largest customer. The creative thought that goes into these promotions is of great strategic importance to the marketing of the brand. For over a decade the promotional sales are based on branded glasses designed especially, usually revolving around a sports event that Coca-Cola sponsors (The Olympics, Fifa world cup, Euro cup). We have had the privilege of conceiving, designing and planning 9 of the glasses that have been sold worldwide in hundreds of millions of units! There is almost no parallel to the enormous quantity and global reach of these promotional sales.
We designed the official London 2012 Olympics glass with the thought of the five Olympic rings that create the immortal Olympics logo. The rings were designed as silicone bracelets in a variety of colors that could be removed from the glass and worn on your hand.
The Can shaped glass was designed with a simple yet genius idea in mind – Using the familiar icon of the Coca-Cola can shape as a glass in a variety of colors. When it was released in 2006 it received remarkable responses and was used in a number of amazing campaigns.
Towards the 2002 FIFA world cup in Korea, Coca-Cola was looking for ideas for promotional sales with its biggest client- McDonalds. Up until then, it was customary to give away footballs, beach towels and other conventional promotional items. The “Wave glass” that we designed was chosen as the official glass. It was manufactured in tens of millions of units and was sold successfully worldwide. The design was inspired by the “Mexican wave”- the famous wave that the fans create in football games and that was first seen in The Mexico games in 1986.
